Books I have beaten recently:
This Town by Mark Lebovich. Basicaly a gossip-fest about the 69-like relationship between politcs and media in Washington D.C. Must read for U.S. political junkies. Everyone else can avoid.
The Everything Store. A business book about why Amazon is both the most evil and most brilliant business since Wal*Mart. A great business book that should be read by anyone who has a job.
I finished reading the Battle Angel Alita series (9 volumes). Great manga overall. Very different from the other manga I've read storywise. Unique artstyle too.
I recently read "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami. It was very different from anything I'd read before, but that's bound to change soon. I've bought a Kindle Paperwhite, so I expect to read even more now.

Kindle Unlimited is such a great idea. Too bad the vast majoirty of the books/authors I want to read are not availble for the service. Like to read a Stephen King novel? Well, there are none of his books on Kindle Unlimited. In fact, the vast majority of the authors I want to read aren't available. What you do get access to is 600,000 self-pub books, already free Classics, and tons of generic books from authors I have never heard of before. Sure there are a few recognizable books/authors here and there. The ad shows the Harry Potter series, The Hunger Games series, Lord of the Rings trilogy. Well, that's about all of the big popular books you'll get to read. Netflix of books, this is not. *sigh* At least not yet, anyway. 
Why pay for what is essentially a library service?
(Yes, yes, digitisation. But it's still a little bit funny.)
Same could be said for Netflix too, since my local library offers DVDs too. I would pay to gain access to a LOT more books without time limits than what my local library offers. It would be a good deal since I could read about $30-50 worth of books in a month for only $10. Unfortunately, my local library offers more digital books that I want to read than Kindle Unlimited currently does.
To be honest, that sounds an awful lot like Netflix. You have some big name movies and shows, then an awful lot of crap.

Here the libraries are connected at the minimum by council jurisdictions so it doesn't matter if a single library has a small collection, because you can order the book you're after from another library from your local library.

Hmmm... very interesting. Will haveto think about it. I think I'd value my books more if I actually bought them, and with something like that I might get demo-itis.

Colorado's Pike's Peak Library District. They've been trying to bulk up their ebook and audiobook selections lately, too.
I am going to the ballet on Wednesday. Don Quixote players or whatever. Should be absolute shit. I started reading Don Quixote and was pleased with it.
