This is why football is the greatest game.

You can't just co-opt exciting finishes like that.  World Series Game 6, Toronto down 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th, leading the series 3-2.  Joe Carter, 2 men on base.

And of course talking world tournaments, the last Olympics, overtime, Canada and US.

Congrats, you can play 3 hours without scoring, doesn't mean you can say winning is better Nyaa

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

I just might make a MLB thread when September comes around.  During the last 30 days of the regular season baseball transcends into something holy and sacred.  It becomes practically a chess match in terms of how managers utilize their rosters during that time. Who they play, who they give time off to, how long they leave pitchers in.  During the last weeks of the season it's as much about strategy and team management as it is actual team talent.  It's brilliant.

What killed the Aussies was their poor performance against Germany. With today's win, they could have advanced to knockout stage, but it was Ghana instead because of their better goal differential.

Bullshit.

What killed us was missing quite a few fantastic chances against Ghana. Wilkshire doesn't miss. Chipperfield doesn't miss. Kennedy doesn't miss. 6 points and we're through, simple as that.

Sorry just sick of all the constant fucking complaining about the Germany game in the media here, when they should be extremely pleased at how well we did in the end despite difficult circumstances, and their giant two year old hissy fit after the 4-0 loss where they crucified the entire team.

Hell, we got the same result as 2006 in a much, much harder group (and in harder circumstances). Yet everyone is complaining about the Germany loss. Fuck off you stupid bandwagoning wankers.

Well it helps to get that out. More websites should let you swear. Nyaa

<3 Steel.

Best sport ever, it's my religion.  But this isn't our thread, so I won't blather on.

GER vs ENG is going to be an epic match.

Yeah it's ridiculous LOL Both sides have this grudge stemming from World War 2 and every football match they play against each other is like do or die, or Escape to Victory.

Congrats to the USA topping the group. US and England through, everybody's happy Happy

Damn, that Altidore guy missed a hum-dinger. Worst miss of the world cup so far.

Even worse than Yakubu's miss against South Korea?

I can't remember Altidore's miss.

Match on in two hours, who's playing?

And can you guys remember, it's annoying me. Last world cup or Euro championship two sides were playing and word reached them that if they both drew the match they would go through. So instead of playing they just sort of passed it about and wasted time.

I can't remember what teams they were.

Norway and Sweden drew 2 - 2.  Both went through causing Italy to drop out of the championship.  it was the european cup though, not the world cup.

and if one team deserved such treatment it's none other than Italy

It was Denmark and Sweden, forgot, not Norway

Check out the 4th goal especially.  And how happy everyone is at the end.

Hey Geek, I see England will be playing Germany next. If they're giving you any trouble don't be scared to call America for help.

How come a team with as many dirty players as Italy gets away with bloody murder every time.  15 minutes in the game they should have had at least 5 cards.  How many do they have?  None

Trust Howard Webb to always play for the strong guy (anyone who watched EPL knows what I'm talking about)

No, England will only call for help if we are desperately outnumbered like in World War 2 when the French had to surrender and it was England vs the Axis powers, Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania.

Meanwhile we will keep backing you up in your Middle East conflicts for no reason.

BTW you owe us £20 bn for Afganistan.

You're still gonna lose anyway.  Happy
