I caught the game at the 50th minute. It looked like Argentina was controlling the ball well, they were on the attack I felt they would tie it soon. Then the second goal happened, which had amazing passing. Then it was a meltdown, Argentina's defense was pure crap. Impressive performance by Germany.

The last few minutes with the two/three penalty kicks were AMAZING. That is why I love sports, stuff like that happens.

Why does Tevez have this like  chicken skin neck? It looks like someone has slashed his throat and its healed over.

Burn from boiling water.

We now no longer have the worst result against Germany: we had 10 players for 2 of their goals! Nyaa

Thank you Maradona!

4 -0 to Germany. At least in the England game we scored twice.

That was some crazy shit. End to end penalties, scoring one, retaking and missing. YES!

Okay after the Dutch game against Brazil, I went around Rotterdam watching some of the celebrations. Eventually I found the place were the were going to start de Tour de France. The next day I watched the prologue in person and made these pictures

The Erasmus bridge in Rotterdam and the crowds

And of course I took a picture of one bicyclist

Spain played such beautiful football. Fuck the haters, they wish they had such an awesome team.

Like watching a Matador.

Good match by both teams. Spain completely dominated midfield, knowing that was paramount to impede Germany's lightning-fast buildups, in the end, it paid off and showed how much of a difference can it make to have a backbone as solid as the spanish midfield.

Germany put up a good fight, but they were never able to get past the overwhelming pressure exerted by the spanish midfield.

New champion come sunday? Both teams have done enough merits to finally ascend to the olympus. That sacred place where very few teams are. This sunday, another one will join them in glory.

Best of luck for both Spain and Netherlands!

Yeah, we will have a new WC champion. Spain is definitely the favorite though, but then again so was Brazil.

Alright, so here is the outsiders perspective.

All in all I think the World Cup was great for South Africa.  They'll make the money back in future business development and tourism.  From the news accounts, it seems like the locals unified around the event as well.

For the sport, I think it was a step back (again this is from the outsiders perspective).  The officiating made it look less of a sport of skill and chance and more of a flawed process where the better team has a 60-40 chance of prevailing depending on who is calling the match.

There were also so many extra-time matches -- which made the game seem less than well designed.

If you wish to return stones in my direction my favorite sports are, in order, MLB, AFL, NBA and NHL.  And yes, I was rooting for the Dutch ('cause as I've learned on this site, if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much).
