Yakuza 3 is wrapped up. After A short adjustment. I got into the swing of things pretty easily with The dated gameplay. Really it wasn't that bad, but the enemies definitely didn't make the combat real easy. Way too much blocking. Main story was a nice change from the usual Yakuza business, and all the kids and everything in Okinawa give the game a very different vibe. I will say, this is the least amount of time I've ever spent on a game in the series. I almost entirely skipped the hostess junk, and a lot of the other side missions as well. I think when I beat the game I had got about 25% completion, whereas I normally get somewhere close to 50%.

I have beaten 2 tekken story modes (7 and Cool and the Elden Ring DLC.

I can not be assed to fire up single player games lately, most of my playtime this year has been Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8.

Despite wanting to go back for a second playthrough, I'm going to close up Salt and Sanctuary and wanted to put my final thoughts down before moving on.

It's probably my favorite game I played this year. Very hard, but never unfair. Well, most of the time. There were a couple boss battles that I had to consult a guide on. And towards the end of the game, the developers either ran out of time, ideas, or money. Either that or they're just kind of sadistic. And in the last hours of the game, there is an over-reliance on your character blindly dropping into pits to find a platform. So if you choose to go left, and the platform you're looking for is on the right, you're dead. The narrative could have been a lot more interesting too. The first half of the game you really don't know what's going on, and it's not until the second half where you start meeting characters who drop little hints on what's going on.

All of that was fairly minor in the grand scheme of things though. I had a lot of fun with this and I'm sure I'll revisit again before the year is out.

Lego Builder's story - 3/10 - switch - 10/07 - aside from the aesthetic, this game has very little going for it. The puzzles aren't very clever, it tries to go for a wordless storytelling that fails to make any emotional connection and it strives for freeform building but doesn't manage to make the controls for it feel intuitive.

Finished 2 games recently. One was a loooong time coming. (Took over a year to finish!) The other was a really good retro styled RPG.

Splatoon3 - 8/10 - Switch - I'm counting the game as completed.  I've obtained the highest rank and played all single player content.  It's Splatoon, it's still great.  Better than 2, but not as good as the original.  There's just too many clutter.  Too many weapons, too many specials.  Some overpowered weapons and specials that can even feel like cheating in how they impact the balance of the game.

I finished up Alan Wake remastered this afternoon. Glad I finally got a chance to check it out after all these years. Really good story that made up for a lot of the game shortcomings, which probably weren't quite as noticeable when it the original version came out 15 years ago.

The Alan Wake DLC chapters are finished. The first one, the Signal sucked. The difficulty spikes was insane. I died more in this one half chapter than I did in the entire game.

The second segment, The Writer, was much better. It didn't offer a ton more insight into the story, but it did a nice job of setting up a sequel.

I will need to invest in a new console first. My PC might play, but I'll probably hold off for a while either way. But yeah I enjoyed the first so I will definitely play the second at some point.

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is finished. Kind of interesting. It's got more content, More characters, more variety of things to do, and probably a better story. Story. Despite all that, I don't think it's better than the original. If anything this suffered from a little bit of bloat. I've been wanting to wrap it up for over a week.

Where I will give some special credit to it though is with the final boss battle. That son of a bitch was hard. I died a couple times during the course of the game so it wasn't a complete walk in the park. But that final battle was fucking devious. I had to try three different teams and ultimately had to spend about four more hours. Just grinding for money and accessories to get a hold of some better gear.

Finished RE: Revelations 2 is finished. Good game overall, but I'm a little unhappy to get the bad ending because I made a wrong choice midway through the game. I don't mind when different endings are received due to achievements, but when it's a single a/b decision....bleh. Same thing happened to me in RE7 come to think of it.

Cult of the Lamb is all done. Probably could have gotten 100% on it too, as I only needed to grab a few last trophies. Maybe I will someday, because I will replay it, but for now I've had enough. Anyway, I do recommend the game, but as I said before wait for a sale like I did.

My company threw an '80s themed party tonight. Part of that was they brought in some arcade games. So I'm proud to announce that after more than 30 years, I have finally finished the arcade version of teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Been playing and beaten Slay the Spire and Balatro. Slay the Spire has the depth to make me spend hundreds of hours and still have stuff to learn and optimize about the game. Balatro is not nearly as rich, a lot simpler, but my probability is sick and so the wins piling on easier hits the spot for now

Slay the Spire is the bench mark for these deck builder games, Balatro is neat for what it is and nothing more. It's still better than some dumb triple A shit Sony produces most of the time Tomas
