Yep.

Actually, one of the best I've read due to not being full of boring, obvious choices.

Thank you gentlemen. Glad you enjoyed it. Hell I'm just glad you read it. Whenever you put this much work into something you always wonder.... is anyone even going to read this shit?

Nice list overall, a fun read.

Excellent list. I totally loved Dragon Quest VIII, played the hell out of that game and still didn't do everything there was to do in it.

Is Mother 3 a bit deeper than Earthbound?  I found Earthbound to be superficially cool but not have any sort of sustaining tie.

#5. Persona 3 FES

Have you ever completely missed out on a game when it was originally released only to discover it years later and then want to kick your ass for missing it in the first place? ...

At least once a month.  My copy of Persona 3 is still sealed.

#1. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Here it is. My favorite video game of all time. Dragon Quest 8. To me it gets no better. There wasn't anything particularly innovative in this game and there didn't need to be. This is an example of a genre perfected. Nothing was missing with this game. A well told, well paced story. Customizable characters. Beautiful graphics. An orchestrated score. Side quests that added to the story instead of distracting from it. Well thought out post-game content. And a sense of exploration like no other. This was a game that made it worth your time to get lost. It's my favorite franchise worked on by my favorite developer. As soon as I finished it, I went back and started it again. That's one thing for games that are shorter experiences, but for a 60 hour epic. And the thing that shocked me the most was despite how throroughly I thought I played it, there were still dozens and dozens of things I missed. And I'm sure the next time I go back to it, I'll find even more stuff. Greatest game of all time folks. If you haven't played it... do it now.

Wow. Most people who play even deep into it don't finish it. I have to play 7 (hopefully on 3DS) before moving onto 8.

Mother 3 is so much better than Earthbound. I really didn't like Earthbound, and that's what kept me away from this game for as long as I did. The pacing is just about where it should be. The story is much deeper. There's stuff going on with all the characters and a few who aren't part of the team. It all makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

I hate to say it, but I cant recommend 7 to too many people. Its a real time sink, and there are just huge stretches where you're doing nothing. Then again if you liked DQ6 you may enjoy this. It's cut from the exact same mold, though they've made it much much bigger.
