I've been meaning to do this for a while, just giving people overviews and nods to shows they may enjoy watching.

The first nod goes to Teen Wolf.

Teen Wolf is another one of these shows that was probably greenlit because of the success of Twilight, but don't let that put you off, because it's a pretty entertaining series regardless. Unlike Twillight it doesn't have overwrought teen angst and terrible dialogue and the show is not filtered through the eyes of a teenage girl. Instead for us the series is very grounded in a familiar best friend relationship in high school, two relative dweebs, one of which becomes better because of the physical enhancements of being a werewolf and his well meaning but fumbling buddy.

It thankfully tempers the horror elements by being frequently funny and has an almost wholly likable cast. Apart from those elements the story expands to include hunters and cops, revenge and has decent backstories too. So far I am 8 eps into season 2 and if anything it's getting better.
