This white filter crap sucks, wtf Nintendo, fix this.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. But I do know that when I changed the resolution from "automatic" in the settings the picture dramatically improved. You might want to alter the Full range HDMI option too.

So I played a couple of hours, I am finding the 3 shrines for the old guy on the plateau.

Mixed impressions. I a warming to it, but right now if you were to ask me if I would prefer a traditional Zelda game rather than this I would go with that.

I need focus. You just seem to be dumped into a fairly empty looking place with a single character to talk to and you just sorta have to work things out. Some will love this, I feel a bit hapless. What also hurts the game for me is the lack of music and the presentational sparsity.

I need cutscenes, great music and focus again.

Graphically it looks nice indoors and in some places sharper than XCX, which it should considering the resolution. But graphically, I can't quite believe some peeps are using this as some sort of indicator of the best Switch can do. XCX shits all over this visually with a lot more going on and runs a lot smoother too.

Switch being like 3.5x over Wii U means it should be able to have much better looking games than this. But this game can still look stylistically great.

The controls take some getting used to on this game. Along with the new controller I felt a bit hapless but have slowly gotten better. They fucked with the zelda combat though, even doing a backflip doesn't get you away from some bad guys.

The interface I am not a fan of, too many screens, too many different ways to access them. And the text and speech bubbles etc feel more like a 360 game than a handcrafted Zelda.

In fact, this game is like Zelda done as if it were done on other systems and I'm not sold that that is a good thing. But I have a lot of game ahead of me.

BTW, I have come across fires and pots in fires and yet I cannot cook? How do you cook in this game?

I'd go into controller options on the settings screen. I like the combat, it's harder though. Now I have arrows it feels better.

The pot was already on fire.

Doh!

I thought it would be like past zeldas where you would pull out an item that would only work in specific circumstances.

Troll!

Someone needs to tell me the recipe for the warm doublet. I aint randomly cooking shit!

I really see the difference between docked and undocked visuals on this thing. Docked looks much better with some frame dips. Undocked has smoother framerate but less detail, resolution and particularly, environmental effects.

Love the screen though, so big and bright and sharp.

I had one big frame rate drop right outside the Plateau but nothing else that was noticeable.  The textures are pretty flat at times, especially on rocks.  Graphics can be a mixed bag.  One thing I really do miss is the triumphant Zelda music when you find a valuable item.

Or any music for that matter.

Well, the piano music has grown on me but I do wish there was some variety.

What is everyone's most satisfying battle so far?  I was fighting a Bokoblin and he slammed me against a tree that had a bee's nest.  The bees started chasing me and I led them to the Bokobo. Instant kill!

Quick impressions because I rather be playing than writing. On the switch, it's the most barebones system I have used since a PS2 era machine. There is nothing to see or do on it. The eshop is literally nine games on one screen. There are some instructional videos and that's about it. Not even miiverse, I don't know if you can even message anyone.

The joycons are too tiny, they work but I don't want to feel like I am holding a kiddy plastic toy that can break. I can't imagine using this thing for two people holding each side ways. When docked its ok but again feels to flimsy and the buttons are too small. I just got the pro controller and it's super nice.

Zelda, I just finished doing the E3 stuff so honestly there isn't much wow going on cause I've seen it all. I am amazed at the freedom of it all, literally go anywhere. And somehow the exploration is rewarded with something every time. I am still getting used to the odd button placement, circle is cancel in every game ever, not this one. The powers are fun, every thing is fun, everything is interactable. Plus I already died a ton so glad the challenge is back.

The frame rate has had very noticeable drops around the first area and when you see it in portable mode it runs perfectly smooth. Also when you dock it you get that white filter, I had to adjust my TV to sort of fix it. It's odd to see a Nintendo game with technical issues, even minor ones.

More to come.

I'm a few hours into it now and really love the sense of exploration. It looks quite good due to the art style and the draw distance is ok. I do agree the music is quite subdued. Got the paraglider and am in the second shrine in the area where I'm to go find Impa. Using the rune powers is quite fun, really like using the time stop and launching things by putting kinetic energy into it. I haven't noticed any big frame drops yet. There might have been a small one but I barely noticed anything.

All frame rate issues seemed to have stopped when I got into the main open world. Did one shrine outside the first are, amazing stuff! Everything is killing me. There was a coliseum I dropped into cause I decided to climb a nearby mountain so I was able to approach it totally different than most. Everything in there is instant death.

Wow. Vader you're not just breezing through the game? You're actually dying in a Zelda game? That hasn't happened for a while.

I've done eight shrines so far, amazing stuff.  They more than make up for the lack of main dungeons.  I had a good run where I found Kakariko Village, found one fairy and had a nice stretch of battles around Laranyu Road.  I reached a summit and tried to conquer a tower covered in briars.  The problem is I didn't have enough stamina.

GG, don't worry, more music starts to open up the more stuff you find.  I've heard quite a few remixes of old familiar tunes.  The music is quite catchy.

How could I go back to OoT now.  It's going to feel so barebones, so empty.  Hell, all of the Zelda games will feel empty after this experience.  I'm really impressed with this one. I'm envisioning goty already.
