Monitor reccomendations welcomed. If no reccommendation then what are you using? (including if multiple monitors). At work I use 3. At home, just one and it's not huge or anything special.

I am looking to upgrade and welcome all input.

I have no relevant input to share.

I work on a 12.3" Surface Pro 7 tablet that I take with me everywhere I go.  At home I have a dock that connects to a 26" 1080p AOC monitor.  Apparently AOC is a pretty well known brand, but all I know about them is that my monitor was pretty cheap and looks good (aesthetically speaking).

What's the great advantage of having 3 screens?  I'm perfectly comfortable with 2.  I'd like it if my 26" was of a higher resolution though.  It stikes me as odd that my larger screen actually allows me to view less detail than my Surface screen.

I put communication aps on the third monitor so theg don't distract me as easily. Also cameras on site. The other two are for general productivity aps.

Ah.  I don't have camera's to monitor and I hardly communicate, so I'm not missing out on much.

I just got the ViewSonic Elite XG270QC and it's amazing compared to my other monitors. I thought my laptop (Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition) was possibly dying (it's nine years old), so I figured I could save money and just use two monitors with the same desktop computer. The laptop doesn't seem to be dying, so my old monitor (Acer V246HL) is just sitting unplugged on the desk next to the new one now. I've gone from 60 Hz to 144/165 Hz, 1080p to 1440p (does anyone even use 1080i or 1440i?), flat to curved, IPS to VA, 24" to 27", amongst various other differences. It's got basic HDR but I don't know if it's really worth using.

I've been thinking of getting a 1080p TV for current and retro games as well as dvds through mclassic. But they are basically phasing them out. So I was thinking a 1080p monitor. Some are curved, can you watch TV and movies on them or does that look weird? Also how are 2d games on a curved screen? Also is 1 hdmi port normal?

In my experience you just get used to it and it doesn't seem strange at all. I assume they're designed in a way that doesn't distort anything. Watching from an unusual angle might cause minor trouble, but if it's a monitor for the use of one person it won't be a problem. I'm not sure about the number of HDMI ports. My old 1080p monitor had only one HDMI port, but the new one seems to have two, as well as a DisplayPort... port.

The ones I've seen all have 1. Even tvs don't have enough. I have hdmi switchers but tbh they add some noise or minor distortion you only notice occasionally but it's there.

It might depend on price. The one I got was discounted from $1000 (about £500).

We did once, as a temporary solution. It didn't look good.

Yes. I've been using an LG 42" 1080p LED television as my primary PC monitor since August 2014. It works extremely well for me. I don't even own a PC monitor anymore.

Not as a monitor, but I regularly play PC games or watch stuff via the PC on television. it looks just the same as playing console games on the television (except better, obviously, due to being PC), so it shouldn't be an issue as a monitor. Except that televisions are big.

I was never really impressed when I connected my computer to my TV, though it's a 2009 1080p LCD TV. Maybe it's not the best example.

Hooked them up just now, so happy.  I'll be tan in no time with this much radiation exposure.

Sorry, I changed topics there mid-stream.

"Hooked them up just now, so happy."

New topic (implied introduction, "I live in Australia therefore,") "I'll be tan in no time with this much radiation exposure"
