My 2012 Gaming Year in Review
$2,000 is cheap for such a great hobby. I have read through once, will go over again in a bit when I get some time.

Every year I do this, time to look back at what I bought, what I played and the amount of money I spent. I find out a lot about myself when I do this. Last year, which you can read here, I got over 100 new games and spent nearly $2000. I have a feeling I got more games this year and spent more simply cause of all the new hardware I got. What I am interested to see is the average score I gave to the games I finished this year, I bet its far lower than last year. This was a down year for games, nothing really excited me except a very select few games.
Games I bought/receieved (this does not count Plus games as those are through a service):
360
- 3DS XL
- Resident Evil Revelations
- Kid Icarus Uprising
- Zelda Four Swords Anniversary
- Kirby's Dreamland
- Kid Icarus 3D
- Kingdom Hearts 3D
- Paper Mario Sticker Star
- NSMB 2
DSPC
Mobile
Total number of games: 76
Estimated Cost (counting all deals and resales I did): $2,100
With all the hardware I bought this year that number could have been much worse but I still need to work on this.
Games I beat in 2012 by order of rating:
First Time Completions
Games Already Beaten:
Total Games Beated : 61
Platform Breakdown:
Genre Breakdown:
As always, and will always be, action adventure is my most played genre. I played lots of platformers and surprisingly FPSs. I went a few years where I maybe played 1 or 2 FPS games, 9 is crazy for me. Lots of arcady shooters and beat em ups as well, this includes a lot of what I played on PSN.
Franchise Breakdown:
It was a RE year as three new games came out and I replayed the two other modern RE games. Amazingly I did not play one old school RE game, should do that this year. Has anyone played four Halo games in one year, they blur together after a while. I had to catch up for Halo 4 so that is what happens. And as always I play my Sonic games.
Publisher Breakdown:
There are a bunch of others with one or other random small publishers. Microsoft Studios??? That is crazy, never thought I would ever play so many MS games but that is what a giant 360 backlog will do for you. Capcom had a strong showing though its almost all RE games. Nintendo not in the lead for the first time in a while.
