To be honest, I did not know Abel was based on Fedor as a fact, but you can clearly see the Combat Sambo gear he is wearing. In Combat Sambo you wear gloves and shin-guards, plus your regular Sambo Gi and short pants.
Fedor is a legend in Sambo, having suffered his first ever loss a few weeks ago. Plus he is very popular in Japan because of his days in Pride. So basically you have a guy with Combat Sambo gear, you can't help but to think of Fedor.
That being said he only looks like Fedor, from what I have seen his fighting style is not similar at all! Plus Fedor is chubby!
P.S. I never ever freak out, hamster. That's Vader's job!
