I'd love to see some cranes lifting an aircraft carrier, but that's probably impossible.
I'd have to say the appeal of cranes is that it is the triumph of physics over the improbable.
Or rather, the triumph of mind over matter. Most people use brute force on things, but once you understand basic concepts of physics (and the underlying math) manipulating large things in the physical realm becomes so much easier. This much I learnt when I moved into blue collar activities after a 20 year hiatus in cubicle warming.
Crane launching boats is a fucking horrendous idea if YouTube has taught me anything; second only to the blow-up tube (popular in Asia for both ships and boats) for destroying whatever you're launching. And crushing to death dockhands.
However, why can't the crane be on the aircraft carrier? I'm starting to think you haven't really thought through this whole aircraft carrier infatuation.

The laptop battery conked out before I could plug it in.
Now in Windows explorer it no longer shows previews of pictures, instead just the bog standard icon. And some video files have mysteriously turned into audio files?

Ah. I know what that is now. Yeah I'm kind of interested in it but need to see more on it. I think all I've seen was a pair of eyes peering through some foilage.
I have no idea what happened, it seemed to go into sleep mode, but never came out of it when it was plugged in. Had to hold down the power button to turn it off. It came back on normally but now in Windows explorer to can't see any picture previews of what the files acually are. And God knows how some video files turned into audio files, they weren't even open??
