Gameranx · 3 hours ago3hRumor: Switch 2 Will Work With Samsung’s Upcoming SD Express MicroSD Cards
https://gameranx.com/updates/id/519730/article/rumor-switch-2-will-work-with-samsungs-upcoming-sd-express-microsd-cards/

In fact, WCCFTech openly speculated that Samsung worked with Nintendo to make the SD Express standard, when Samsung first announced it last September. WCCFTech and SuperMetalDave64 are really excited about this, because Samsung claims that these new cards can reach transfer speeds of 800 MB/S. But that really isn’t enough information for most of us, is it. Why would Nintendo go through the effort over a card that you can’t even buy yet?

As you may know, newer games have such higher requirements that developers are telling gamers that they need to upgrade their HDDs to SSDs.

While a HDD on a PC could run on SATA at a maximum speed of 600 MB/S, an SSD could reach speeds of 3,000 MB/S. And yes, new games are being programmed in such a way that they take advantage of these newer speeds.

While 800 MB/S isn’t quite catching up to SSDs, it’s far better than the average standard microSD speed of 60 MB/S, which is the theoretical speed of the Nintendo branded SanDisk microSD cards. In fact, the best microSD card you can use on your Nintendo Switch now, this 1.5 TB SanDisk SDXC card, claims a maximum transfer speed of 150 MB/S.

Necessary, good they are doing this. If this is as powerful as it seems they need to future proof it for the newer ports. And yeah $400-$500 is going to be what it is, and that's fine. I think people are used to expensive electronics. Kids are now given iPads and iPhones, this is still cheaper.

So it looks like my one Black Friday purchase will be Resident Evil 4. I was debating Persona 3 Reloaded, but I played the original probably four times now. Even at a discounted rate, I can't quite get excited enough to want to buy it.

RE4 has been fun though. I've made the mistake of playing it on hardcore mode though. I am not good enough for this. I have died a lot. I'm at the cabin fight with Luis right now, and I think I failed four times now. On one hand, I appreciate how relentless all the enemies feel at this difficulty level. On the other hand, it's getting frustrating.

Yeah it's brutal, should enjoy it first then try again harder.

So I don't want to brag, but last week I started to stream my gaming on tiktok. To say I've become successful might be a bit of an understatement and the financial rewards have been impressive. So far I have made $4.50, in just over 5 hours.

So are just steaming your game or are you commenting while playing.

I'm off on another quick cruise, so my gaming will halt a bit. I am at the final mission of dragon age, just in time to finish that and jump right into Indiana Jones. At work I play indie games on my laptop and this week I played a Castlevania 2 like game called Infernax, it was pretty good.

A bit worried at the price of these new cards.

Even 150mb/s microSD cards are hugely expensive for even relatively small sizes like 256gb.

The 1tb cards costs are ridiculous. So i hope Samsung have found a cheaper way to sell them.

I'm hoping that Switch carts will be this 3D Nand technology. They can support very large game sizes, so less of the huge downloads. And I read in an article some are write able. So you can download to the spare space on the actual cartridges.

I've seen Infernax, it has all low res artstyle?

Have you tried Heidelburg 1693, Blasphemous or Ganryu 2?

Very good platformers with awesome pixel art.

Got Indiana Jones and the Great Circle downloaded and ready to go when it launches in the next few days. As a big fan of the franchise this looks like it’ll be right up my alley.

I comment while I play, or talk about something pokémon related. It took a couple games before I actually found an audience to watch. But once I started playing pokémon, people started coming in to watch.

The oddest thing was one guy came in, and then invited a bunch of his friends to also watch. Then the four or five of them had a conversation amongst themselves. I was more or less their background noise while they chatted about things that had nothing to do with the game.

I'd probably get it, if I could. I even enjoyed that hilarious Wii Indy game.

I like the random mix of different gameplay scenarios.

I'm suprised the game came out so well as some of the previews were a bit down on it.

Last weekend I was taking a couple pics of my dog playing at the park, and a guy about my age asked if I were playing Pokemon Go. It wasn't a question I ever expected to be asked. I politely said no. After I wished I had said I was capturing an extremely rare Pugglemon or something. .

My Asian uncle plays Pokemon Go with his daughter, who's my age.

It's a good way for them to bond.

The only Indy game that I recall ever playing was Raiders of the Lost Ark on the Atari 2600. LOL

That's the best Indy game. Nyaa

I also had the one on the original Xbox but it was super buggy.

So I just saw a tv report on the University of Bristol who have developed a new battery technology using decaying radio active gas inside a casing made of artificially grown diamonds.

They said, get this, that a normal battery may last a week.

A diamond battery, after 5000 years, will still be at 50% power.
