Got my new steam deck. Will post a hardware review, probably not tonigh, today was long and disjointed. Drove 4 hours in total to work at two sites from 0500 through until 1600. We've also had over 14 inches of rain in two days which makes it interesting travelling on regional roads. All my dams are overflowing (for those not in the know that's not a metaphor, on my farm we have six dams).

A Chinese accessories manufacturer sent Switch up a full 3D printed mockup of the Switch 2.
It's a more detailed look than we've seen before.
It looks like a bigger OLED. It has a larger top vent, so will generate more heat. The kickstand looks like the OLED.
Couldn't agree more.
The last thing we needed was a 'photo' button on each joycon. My Switch's memory is already swamped in accidental pictures of random stuff my kids take whenever they game.
You're really not joking, the Indiana Jones' tagline shows an unussually snarky Aspro

Amen. I think the only Ubisoft games I will miss are the ones they haven't made in a decade or longer.
My nephew's repeated take photos endlessly cause they know it pisses me off.
Steamdeck Owners: ANyone have a recommendation for a dock for it?
Indiana Jones impressions. It's fantastic, I love it. Its nothing like Uncharted, no constant gun play, just slow , almost leisurely, exploration. But there's so much to explore, so many secrets and mysteries to uncover. You keep pressing on because you want to see whats next or how to progress. Its a very different type of Metroidvania.
Troy Baker nails the tone, inflections , the whole energy of Harrison Ford's voice and mannerisms. I dare say this is his best voice work, or at least tied with Joel from TLoU. The game world is so good that I am nearly eight hours into this and just now started the second major set piece. I'm thinking that this will certainly be my goty.
Looks like a good summary. (PC Games magazine) :
Best Steam Deck dock 2024
They put a $29 USD one above Valve official $149 USD one.
A complicating factor will be what I can get in Australia.
Some more Mario & Luigi Brothership impressions: Things aren't improving. Side missions are basic. They're not even fetch quests. It'll be stuff like 'check up on NPC this in island that'. So you travel there, which is like 3 minutes at most, you talk to them and presto: side mission completed! Main missions aren't much better. There's a puzzle where you need to find a code to open a gate. There's an NPC with a speachbubble above his head, you talk to him, he tells you about some paper in some room. you go to the one other room you can enter, and all of a sudden there's this icon on the floor that wasn't there before. It's just lazy design. There's no exploring, as there's nothing of interest anywhere. The writing is still dull and princes peach's garbling voice sounds way off.
I guess the only positive thing I can say about it so far is that my youngest son is loving it.
They're currently talking about 'ragebaiting' on the radio at the moment. Personally I think it's great. It's meta-influencing. It boils down to nothing more than being obnoxious on social platforms in order to enrage people enough that they reply to you, thus creating 'engagement'. Read: money.
Some examples they gave:
- a good looking girl who ostensibly complains about how hard it is for her because she's so incredibly beautiful
- cooking horrible things and pretending they're cullinairy masterpieces
- a guy with a coffee channel who always says 'expresso' instead of 'espresso'
In all honesty, this is the first time that I've ever appreciated anything related to social media.
I honestly don't think I could be ragebaited. Other peoples opinions are just that. They have no influence on my contentment. If as a creator you are dumb enough that you cannot stimulate thought that you have to be intentionally provocative, I merely feel sorry for yhem and even more for the progressively dumb people that listen to them.
Well yhen nothing wrong with that.
True, but it's a very low bar for a series that has been very high in quality so far, and for Mario games in general.
Are they though? In this day and age of depillerization, opinions and choices are the only defining elements that form our identitiy. When someone then attacks those, it is very easy to feel as if oneself is being attacked.
Personally I'm generally very levelheaded as well and not easily put off my balance (although Foolz can come close with his hoity-toity manierisms, lol), but I'd say such disposition is more the exemption than the norm.
At least in the case of ragebaiting, they're gaming the system. I can respect that.
Anyhow, a bit later in the program someone mentioned that in the 60's the brightest mathematicians were working on rocket science. These days they're working on algorithms to keep people 'engaged' online for 2.3 extra seconds.
Agreed. I’m thoroughly enjoying this game right now. Totally nails the whole vibe of the movies. Troy Baker’s Indiana Jones is impeccable. Some other fantastic voice acting in there from others as well. Don’t think it’ll top Final Fantasy VII Rebirth as my GotY year but it’s definitely a game that I would put up a nomination for.
Says the guy whose first question on his co-host visiting a university games expo was: how many groupies did you fuck?
