Bioshock 2 feels exactly like the first one in every sense except it is a bit worse. It has the exact same gameplay, it has a new weapon or two and maybe one or two new powers. You visit new areas of rapture but it is still rapture so it feels like the same location. The only thing that has changed is that the game world is now split into sections and it is not one large interconnected map. This eliminates backtracking but reduces exploration.

You still battle Big Daddies to take Little Sisters but this time since you are a Big Daddy you can use the little sister to harvest ADAM. During these moments hoards of enemies attack. This occurs many times and each time you can prepare for the battle ahead with many traps. After you rescue three Little Sisters a Big Sister appears which is the new super fast version of the Big Daddy. You get a warning each time a Sister is arriving so once again you get to setup before the battle. I enjoyed the process of getting a whole area geared up for battle as it allowed for powers to shine. It might be a bit repetitive but each fight is intense and when the battle goes as planned you feel like a badass. Combat with guns does get a bit messy when up close but the use of powers makes up for the sloppy gunplay.

Just like the original the levels are super detailed and oozing with atmosphere. Around every corner is some new battle, or new power keeping things fresh for the full 13-15 hours it takes to finish. It may be very similar to the first but it is still one hell of a ride and an excellent game.

So it's like every other game this gen.

Yes actually it is. LOL

There is some giant handbook that all devs share that is called "How to make a blockbuster game this gen"
