The government decided what to allow for Christmas and New years eve yesterday, and the answer is 'nothing'. We're not even allowed to invite one other family. Very harsh and I think a LOT of people are going to give them a big fuck you over this. I'm always for strict rules to keep the situation from worsening, but this is going to be very hard for everyone...

Well that turned out differently than we thought. By the time Christmas rolled on, all surrounding nations had harshened their rules in line with ours. People in general seem to have adhered to the rules well, resulting in us now doing 'less bad' than most other countries.
But I'm really starting to feel the rammifications of a year in Covid. I haven't been able to practice my sports for a year now, nor have I seen many friends or relatives. It's like it's all work and no play, all the time.

Yeah, we started, but it's gearing up slowly. I think we only did about 40.000 in the first 3 weeks or so. It'll be months before I get a shot at getting a shot, as I'm too old to be youth, too young to be elderly, not mentally or physically handicaped, don't have diabetes or cancer, nor am I pregnant. Not that I care though, I'm still in doubt wether I want to get vaccinated or not.
And I see what you did there, but I'm more worried about becoming a numb boy, just going on professionally while ignoring all that's going wrong or not going on at all on a personal level.

Yes, unfortunately it's going to be a slow process; eventually you'll benefit from it (assuming it's a success lol) whether you get it or not, at least. But not for a long time. 
Apparently you're also at risk of becoming a mere toy, and your goal should be to become the real McCoy once things hopefully improve.
If either of us turns out positive we're facing 10 days of quarantine, missing out on a family trip with my parents and sister and the end of quarantine will coincide with the end of the rest of my vacation.
If enough people get vaccinated we can eradicate it but a bunch of places don't have access to the vaccine or like us, foolish to not want it.

I hate that this whole ordeal was politicized. We should've been one country/world working together to eradicate this and save lives.

While I agree since I don't know how to fix the human problem, there is a big difference between the COVID vaccines and the flu vaccine each year. Normally the efficacy of the flu vaccine is roughly 50%, and about 50% of the population in the US get it each year. For COVID vaccines, it's upwards of 96% effective. If we combined that with an 80%+ vaccination rate, this virus genuinely could be eliminated in a way that the flu hasn't been. The current coverage in the US is about 50%, which doesn't yet include anyone under the age of 12.

I work with an absolute moron, and unfortunately she's my assistant. The amount of energy and time she puts into diving into grossly incorrect information is maddening. All of her news seems to come from places that are banned on most social media. And yet, that's the correct stuff in her mind.

I my state 7, yes 7 people have died from covid and most of them were over 75, so for me getting a haircut is a higher priority. I'll get it when I have to do so for travel.
It is also a fair bit of effort to get the Vax in Australia. We don't have JJ, Pfizer for now is limited to people in essential services and tge rest of us get astrazenca... which my state government has told the public it is not safe for people under 40. LOL, so anyway I am sure it will all work out.
